I've arranged to provide a tour of the Computer History Museum at
8:00 AM on Sunday morning for HHC attendees:

    http://www.computerhistory.org/

I have not received museum docent training, so while I am familiar with
many of the exhibits, I can't promise that the experience will match
the official tours. The museum has regularly scheduled tours on
Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday afternoons.

The "Visible Storage" collection spans hundreds of years of computing
history, from early mechanical calculators to modern supercomputers
and micros. Some of the items in the collection may be seen online:

We can also see the DEC PDP-1 computer (circa 1961) which is currently
being restored. The first computer video game, Spacewar, was developed
on a PDP-1:

There is no charge for the tour, though a contribution to the museum is
requested. Space will be limited to the first twelve people who sign up
by contacting me. (Please email me rather than the mailing list.)

The Museum is at 1401 N. Shoreline Blvd., Mountain View, CA 94043,
approximately eleven miles from the Radisson Hotel. Transportation is
not provided. I can take a few people in my car.

I plan to arrive at the hotel around 6:30 AM Sunday morning, and
depart for the museum at 7:30 AM. The tour will wrap up by 9:30 AM so
that we can get back to the hotel in time for the start of the Sunday
session.
