  Hello Ted,

Thanks for the offer to help.

We have to make a choice reasonably soon because HP is revamping some of their
facilities and we need to lock in our choice. I favor Corvallis because we hope to
make a 2009 Calendar with HP people as the theme.

      Hello Everyone,

I hope that we can use the HHC List this year for HHC discussions, announcements, etc.

This is an initial test to determine who is still subscribing. Send me a quick email if you receive this. You might also give the list URL to friends who may have unsubscribed or would be interested and subscribing.

Here is some news, just in case you haven't heard.

      1. HP has started a Calculator newsletter called HP Solve. You "subscribe" by signing up and receiving a size limited email version with links to the web version. You may also download the "complete" newsletter as a *.pdf file. February was the first "issue" and the HP Solve editor is restructuring it to better reflect the current HP thinking and to respond to feedback. See HP Solve at:

      http://h20331.www2.hp.com/Hpsub/cache/580500-0-0-225-121.html<http://h20331.www2.hp.com/Hpsub/cache/580500-0-0-225-121.html>

      2. Those of you that attended HHC 2007 will know that the HP Calculator division has a new General Manager. You may get some information about Wing at the HHC 2007 web site announcement at:

      http://holyjoe.org/hhc2007/HP%20Calculator%20Division%20News.pdf<http://holyjoe.org/hhc2007/HP%20Calculator%20Division%20News.pdf>

The newsletter provides links to Wing's Blog at:

      http://h20325.www2.hp.com/blogs/cheung<http://h20325.www2.hp.com/blogs/cheung>

      3. The HHC 2008 committee hasn't been formed (it is a bit early in the year)

but after the success of HHC 2007 at the HP San Diego Conferences facilities

we have some similar HP options to consider. These are at HP Conference

Facilities at: Vancouver, WA; Corvallis, OR; Boise, ID, and again at San

Diego, CA. Please include your choice in your "listening" confirmation

      email to me.

      4. CES, the Consumer electronics Show, is an annual event held early in January in Las Vegas. HP has a Corporate booth and the various product groups participate with their own island booths. HP had their calculator booth and it was a BIG improvement over the staid 35th anniversary CES booth of 2007. Wing was there, as he mentions in his Blog, and I think that he is getting up to speed with respect to the importance of HP calculators getting greater exposure. HP Solve will provide information on the many increased other trade shows that HP will be participating in this year.

      5. JKH news. As you may - or may not - know Joseph Horn has been "missing"

from the news group, his web sites, etc. He is on medical leave and he was expected

to be on the East Coast for treatment for about six months. I have heard that he

has had surgery and that it went well. It should not be much longer before we hear

from him once again on the news group, etc., because the six months is just about

      up.

      That is it for now.

      X < > Y,

      Richard
