First thing, I think the vote would be more meaningful if the voters
indicated if they would likely attend. A vote
from someone who would not attend is probably not of much value. Also,
it would be of interest to know whether
a voter would attend even if the location which was chosen was not the
one the voter preferred.
There are obvious connections to the current calc team with respect to
Vancouver (where Sam Kim is located)
and San Diego (where the calc-team offices are located). What are the
chances of a top-notch meeting facility
in Corvallis, similiar to the one in S.D.? Not that they might not
exist, but my question is whether the calc team
has the right "connections" to secure a great place to meet at HP in
Corvallis and to be sure that all the nitty-gritty
details may be worked out. Those can not be done by "remote
control"...it probably takes someone to actually
be there repeatedly in person.
