I am using bearings in my tests.  I just happen to have them handy.

Also, they’re not bearings, they’re slingshot ammunition. If the balls were perfectly round (which they’re not, not even close) that might help too. If you have a source of bearings of that size it would be interesting to see if that makes a difference.
