Aren't some touchscreens based on mechanical contact closures. I know for
a fact that the one on the Omnigo 100 was (I have one in bits somewhere,
and I did figure out how the touchscreen worked).
Anyway, as I pointed out on the Sunday, physical keys have the advantage
you can operate them without looking at the calculator (great if you're
looking at some measuring instrument instead), and can be easily operated
by one finger (without having to hold a stylus) (great if you're holding
a couple of test probes in place too). I find the old-fashioned keyboards
to be a lot more practical in a workshop...
